Celebrating History and Kickstarting the Band

Upper Bucks Visitor Center Grand Opening

The Quakertown Band recently joined with the Quakertown Historical Society and Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the opening of the new Upper Bucks Visitor Center museum. The event was held in honor of the historical society'€™s 50th anniversary. Following a ribbon cutting and official opening of the beautiful exhibit space, the Quakertown Band entertained guests with a celebratory concert on the lawn.

The museum space currently features an historic exhibit featuring memorabilia from the band'€™s 138 year history. A collection of photographs, uniforms, music and instruments is displayed for visitors to enjoy and gain a deeper appreciation for the history of the local band. The exhibit will run for six months.

As a part of the afternoon'€™s festivities, the band announced the launch of its month long fundraising campaign on Kickstarter. The band is planning on making a professionally recorded CD of a collection of pieces that have been gathered from the band'€™s archives. The CD, "Only in Quakertown" will feature only pieces either commissioned by or arranged specifically for the Quakertown Band. This will be the first professionally recorded work by the group. The group is hoping to raise $15,000 for the project. Contributions can be made by visiting Quakertownband.org and clicking on the "Kickstarter" banner.
